The University of Wolverhampton Science Park is proud to mark the 20-year milestone of its tenant company, WatStech Ltd, a pioneering company in water treatment and environmental technology that has been an integral part of our innovative community since 2005 – this celebration comes as the University of Wolverhampton Science Park itself marks a 30th anniversary, highlighting three decades of fostering innovation and supporting businesses in cutting-edge industries.
WatStech Ltd is a leading scientific testing and consultancy service dedicated to the water industry. Over the past two decades, the company has played a crucial role in advancing water treatment solutions and remains at the forefront of sustainable water management.
Originally a spin-out company from the University of Wolverhampton, WatStech Ltd began as a research group in 2000. Five years later, the company was formally established, and in 2008, it became an independent company. Throughout its history, WatStech has consistently driven innovation in water treatment, collaborating with major water utility providers.
“WatStech Ltd exemplifies the spirit of innovation and excellence that we foster at the Science Park said Nigel Babb, Commercial Director of University of Wolverhampton Science Park. “Their continued success in the field of water technology and their enduring partnership with Severn Trent highlight the impact that long-term collaboration can have in driving sustainable solutions. ”
As the company marks this significant milestone, WatStech continues to grow and evolve, driving initiatives that support both environmental responsibility and commercial efficiency. Their latest projects with Severn Trent, Thames Water Utilities Ltd. and West Country Water and Environment (a collaboration with Wessex Water and South West Water) focus on optimising treatment options and supporting a national strategy for water resources known as Strategic Resource Options (SROs). This initiative provides a more efficient and sustainable approach to water resource management across the UK, helping water companies work collaboratively to address the challenges of climate change and population growth.
Dr. Kally Kaur, Managing Director of WatStech Ltd, commented, “University of Wolverhampton Science Park has provided the ideal base for our operations, offering a range of workshops, laboratories, and office spaces that have enabled our business to grow and thrive. As we embark on the next chapter, we are excited to continue our work with water companies and further contribute to advancements in the water industry.”
This 20-year anniversary is a testament to WatStech Ltd’s resilience, adaptability, and pioneering spirit. Its work continues to make a lasting impact on the water industry, and its presence at Wolverhampton Science Park remains a source of pride for our innovative community.
